This is my last update from Italy until I hop on a plane and head north to Warsaw. Poland is the focal point of my fall break. Not only is the trip exciting in that I will be visiting a new city and country, but I will be taking advantage of the downtime to get some well needed writing in. I had the best intentions over the last four months to write the third book in The Fox and the Girl series, but I didn’t take into account how busy I would be.
Between teaching summer school outside Washington DC, then moving to Italy and getting adjusted to a new place and teaching gig; my motivation has been sporadic at best. Frankly, even though I have pages of notes for the next couple books in the series, I have not been grounded enough to write. The editing process of both Luza and Riley consumed me for weeks. Now that both books will be in wide release next week, I can finally focus on the new books.
Unlike other writers, I can’t force myself to write daily if I don’t feel ready. There are no forcing words out because when I do sit down and start the process, I simply tap into my mind and the magic happens. I like to think of my writing process as a channeling of sorts. Once I’m in a settled state the words start to flow and the writing process goes quite quickly. For the time it takes me to write the book, I breathe, eat, sleep, and sometimes run with the story.
Here’s hoping it will start in Warsaw and carry over to Italy upon my return.
